Bijouworld or Bijou Video is the oldest gay erotic business in the world since 1970. It found its beginning in the Bijou Theatre, also known as "The Bijou". This refers to a theatre and sex club for gay adults in the old town of Chicago. It opened 1970 and was able to maintain itself until September 2015. Bijou Video, the film branch of Bijou produces/d and buys/bought many films with explicit gay content from the 1970s and 1980s. Mostly of feature film length, they contain beautiful stories that are reminiscent of cinema traditions. Today, these films are called Bijou Classics. Bijou Video is the only gay classic porn company and has been restoring films since the 1990s (Hand in Hand, Steve Scott, Al Parker, etc.). Bijou's business comprises of classic gay vintage porn films, film posters and gay magazines (culture, porn, eroticism, history, etc.) from 1895 to 2000. Due to their content, Bijouworld is in a constant legal dispute with federal and state governments on whether they can stay in business, but so far they have managed to maintain their support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Besides queer films, Bijou Video also offers films with heterosexual contents and has something of interest for everyone.
