Annie Sprinkle

For many years, Annie Sprinkle continuously toured Europe and North America with two one-woman theater performances about her life: Annie Sprinkle--Post Porn Modernist and Annie Sprinkle’s Herstory of Porn. She has put those humorous and provocative performances about her life as a sex worker and a porn star on film, and they are now available at arthousevienna.com 

Annie was one of the pivotal players in the Sex Positive Feminist Porn Movement of the 1980’s and 1990’s, receiving a PorYes Feminist Porn Award in 2009 for her work. She got her BFA at School of Visual Arts in NYC. Annie was then the first porn star to earn a PhD. For the past 21 years, Annie has been collaborating on art projects with her partner Beth Stephens, an artist and university professor. They are movers and shakers in the new “ecosex movement,” committed to making environmentalism more sexy, fun and diverse. They also make queer environmental films. Annie and Beth have chronicled 21 years of their love and art adventures in their book, Assuming the Ecosexual Position: The Earth as Lover.
